SWISS KRISS AND OTHER WISDOM

1. SKINCARE

I'm pretty lazy about beauty treatments (I get a facial once every 3-5 years). But something that makes me feel energized and refreshed, especially in the dark winter months is steaming my face with garlic. Putting your face over a bowl of boiling water with a towel over your head is like a mini steam, it clears you out and wakes you up. Adding the garlic came a few years ago when I was battling a sinus infection and now I always put it in my steam bath! Recently I came across a cheap and vintage beauty secret—steaming your face with Swiss Kriss (it's an herbal laxative from the 70's). You're supposed to do it 3 days in a row for maximum effectiveness, I have yet to do that but I really like the idea of it. 

2. WELLNESS

To keep my immune system fighting all the germs my kids bring home I use oregano oil a ton, Kiss Ass Immune support (from Whole Foods), DoTerra OnGuard and Arborvitae and lots of raw ginger and lemon. 

3. FITNESS

I try to exercise 3X a week but it usually ends up being 1-2. When I can get out - the best/most time effective thing is running (well it's more like jogging). I was not a runner until after I had kids. I never thought I could be a runner. I used to not be able to run more than a couple blocks but slowly I've built my stamina up and now I can run 6 miles (if I absolutely have to). If you think you're not a runner, you're wrong, everyone can do it. I'm proof.
