MAY 2018 spotlight
MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
WEATHERING THE STORM OF THE PERINATAL PERIOD TOGETHER
IT's OK TO NOT FEEL OK - AND IT'S OK TO ASK FOR HELP
do you know 5 moms? then you know someone....
1 in 5 moms will experience some form of depression, anxiety, panic, racing thoughts, OCD or post-traumatic stress disorder yet a staggering 85% of these cases go undiagnosed and untreated. in honor of Maternal Mental Health Month, we are putting the focus on this issue which is the #1 medical complication related to child bearing (and also completely treatable).
can you relate to this? know someone else who can? know a family/mom that you would like to support? or maybe you're simply curious about this topic and learning more how to help your mama tribe? then please click on the link to join us for our next Brooklyn meet up on Thursday, May 17. this month, we will also be sharing stories and sentiments from different voices in our community through our online platform and via social media. you can read the first one here.
the period leading up to and after birth can be a NOT SO HAPPY TIME for many of us. and the first step is to know that it's ok and to reach out for help. the mom gig is a task that no one should have to do alone. in the spirit of #momsneedmoms we hope you join us.
